நற்பொருள் நன்குணர்ந்து சொல்லினும் நல்கூர்ந்தார்
சொற்பொருள் சோர்வு படும்.

பொருள்: நல்ல நூற் பொருளை நன்றாக உணர்ந்து எடுத்துச் சொன்னப் போதிலும் வறியவர் சொன்ன சொற்பொருள் கேட்பார் இல்லாமல் பயன்படாமல் போகும்.

The poor men's words are thrown away
Though from heart good things they say.
