தானம் தவம்இரண்டும் தங்கா வியன்உலகம்
வானம் வழங்காது எனின்.

பொருள்: மழை பெய்யவில்லையானால், இந்தப் பெரிய உலகத்தில் பிறர்பொருட்டுச் செய்யும் தானமும், தம் பொருட்டுச் செய்யும் தவமும் இல்லையாகும்.

Were heaven above to fail below
Nor alms nor penance earth would show. 

English Meaning: If rain does not fall, practices like penance and acts of charity cannot thrive in this vast world. This highlights how rain, by sustaining life and providing abundance, creates the conditions for people to engage in spiritual practices and charitable deeds. When there is enough rain, there is enough food and resources, allowing people to focus beyond survival—to give to others and engage in self-improvement. Without rain, scarcity takes over, and people are too occupied with basic survival to dedicate themselves to penance, charity, and helping others. Rain, therefore, supports not only physical life but also the moral and spiritual health of society.
