அறத்தாறு இதுஎன வேண்டா சிவிகை
பொறுத்தானோடு ஊர்ந்தான் இடை.

பொருள்: பல்லக்கைச் சுமப்பவனும் அதன் மேலிருந்து ஊர்ந்து செல்லுவோனுமாகிய அவர்களிடையே அறத்தின் பயன் இஃது என்று கூறவேண்டா.

Litter-bearer and rider say
Without a word, the fortune's way.  

English Meaning: The results of living a virtuous life are self-evident, as seen in the contrast between the one carrying the palanquin (the laborer) and the one riding in it (the master). Thiruvalluvar points out that virtue elevates a person's status and brings visible rewards, making its benefits clear without the need for explanation.
