அறத்தின்ஊங்கு ஆக்கமும் இல்லை; அதனை
மறத்தலின் ஊங்குஇல்லை கேடு.

பொருள்: ஒருவருடைய வாழ்க்கைக்கு அறத்தைவிட நன்மையானதும் இல்லை; அறத்தைப் போற்றாமல் மறப்பதைவிடக் கெடுதியானதும் இல்லை.

Virtue enhances joy and gain;
Forsaking it is fall and pain.  

English Meaning: Virtue is the supreme source of all good, bringing joy, success, and prosperity to life. There is nothing greater than practicing virtue, and conversely, forgetting or abandoning virtue leads to immense harm and suffering. Thiruvalluvar stresses that virtue is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life, and neglecting it is the root cause of downfall and sorrow.
